The drawing for Design 31/2C for the Fletcher class ships. The vertical colors specified were: dull black (BK), ocean gray (5-O) and haze gray (5-H); ships that substituted light gray (5-L) for haze gray would have been in Measure 32. This drawing was probably completed by December 4, 1943 when it was sent to USS Clarence K. Bronson (DD-668). In the drawing stern view, at D, the stripe to starboard is really the aftermost black panel viewed edge on. Some ships painted an extra stripe on the stern quarter to match.
A drawing for Design 2C was attached to the July 15, 1943, memo to PacFleet for the heavy cruiser San Francisco CA-38. Design 2C can be seen carried by the
Brooklyn class light cruisers USS St Louis (CL-49) and USS Honolulu (CL-48). It was also used with slight modifications on many destroyer escorts of the John C. Butler class.
