USS Gunason (DE-795) from port wearing Measure 31 colors in Design 11D. Note the lower contrast between the medium color, ocean gray, and the light color, here haze gray. This photo had a note that read “DE-795 being repainted in Measure 22, assigned Atlantic 4/3/44.” Gunason did operate with the Atlantic Fleet from April 1944 until January 1945, and left Boston January 27, 1945, for the Pacific. Gunason has an HF/DF antenna at the masthead in place of the normal SA antenna. Photo source: NARA 19-LCM-DE795-1.
Gunason is shown again from the starboard wearing 31/11D. Gunason also still has the 1.1-inch AA on the aft deckhouse along with the original torpedo tubes. Photo source: NARA 19-LCM-DE795-2.
Gunason again from the same series wearing camouflage 31/11D. Gunason has “extra” panels on the stern. The starboard panel should be ocean gray, but appears to be dull black. Photo source: NARA 19-LCM-DE795-3.
