Cargo ship USS Formalhaut (AK-22) from the starboard side at Norfolk on November 24, 1944, wearing camouflage 32/8T. Formalhaut had just been modified from AKA to carry ammunition, but was not redesignated as an AE. The Design 8T was meant for a longer profile ship (C-2), but it was adapted by Norfolk to the shorter profile here (C1). Photo source: NARA BS 96743.

AK-22 was sent 31a/19F on 11/18/44, but it was too late. Norfolk had already painted AK-22 in an adapted 32/8T by 11/29/44.
