Auxiliary Ships

Cargo ship USS Formalhaut (AK-22) from the starboard side at Norfolk on November 24, 1944, wearing camouflage 32/8T. Formalhaut had just been modified from AKA to carry ammunition, but was not redesignated as an AE. The Design 8T was meant for a longer profile ship (C-2), but it was adapted by Norfolk to the shorter profile here (C1).
