Camouflage Measure and Design was assigned in 10/11/43 ComServPac letter #0937 to the BuShips which assigned camouflage Designs to most ships in the Pacific Fleet.
This photo taken at the Mare Island Navy Yard, California, March 26, 1945, shows USS Walke (DD-723) on the left and USS Halford (DD-480) at right, with a repaired temporary bow as the result of damage from a collision with the M.S. Terry E. Stephenson in Saipan harbor on February 14, 1945. Halford is still wearing camouflage Measure 31 Design 10D using black and haze gray. The haze gray of her turrets and superstructure is more reflective than on DD-725. Photo source: NARA BS 84484.
