USS Haraden (DD-585) taken from USS Natoma Bay (CVE-62) after a Japanese kamikaze aircraft crashed behind the bridge and into the forward engine room on December 13, 1944, in the Sulu Sea. The crash has destroyed the forward stack and shaken loose the radar antenna on top of the mast. After the damage Haraden had to sail using the single remaining engine back to the mainland US for repairs. Photo source: NARA 80-G-353202.
