Drawing

This is the drawing for Design 15F for the Gilliam class attack transports using the (S4-SE2-BD1) maritime hull dated August 17, 1944. This drawing specified four Measure 32 vertical colors of light gray (5-L), haze gray (5-H), ocean gray (5-O), and navy blue (5-N) with the horizontal color of deck blue (20-B) and was labeled as “Measure 12 modified”. I am not sure if the label was a mistake or not since this drawing is identified in memos as Measure 12. It is similar to the graded nature of Measure 12, but Measure 12 had not previously had any specific pattern applied. It was also misidentified as for USS Artemis (AKA-21) class, but the profile was for the USS Gilliam (APA-57). The landing boats were haze gray and the added note read: “life rafts are to receive a light mist of paint shade indicated.” There were also two waterlines: a light load line and a load waterline.

This is the only drawing for Design 15F that has yet been found.
