Occasionally while scouring the Archives for documentary or photographic evidence for some ship’s camouflage, I have encountered some other interesting items. The following is a letter written by the commanding officer of a very brave ship that had been in the thick of battle. It gives one a slight hint of what it might have been like to face the Imperial Japanese Navy in 1944. I personally cannot read it without gaining a great appreciation and pride for the men and women who gave a lot of their lives to fight the tyranny of that era.
