The Allen M. Sumner class was an improved Fletcher class on a slightly larger hull armed with twin 5-inch guns. The Gearing class extended the Sumner hull by adding 14 feet.

Indicates the date that the Bureau of Ships sent to the ship or shipyard drawings and instructions to paint that camouflage design. That directive was usually followed and camouflage completion photos were returned to the Bureau. For the rows that are marked red, no verification memos or photos have yet been found.
Indicates the earliest date that memos or photos confirm painting in that design.
Indicates date commissioned, if after 1/1/45, ship may not have worn Measure 31-32-33 while commissioned. Exceptions were landing craft in Measure 31.

DD-731 commissioned on 6/2/44 in camouflage 32/16D and after shakedown was repainted in camouflage 32/9D at Boston on 7/3/44.
Twelve Allen M. Sumner class destroyers were modified while building and completed as destroyer minelayers DM. Their camouflage is listed under Minelayers.
DD-742 was sent Design 31/25D on 8/5/44 using DD-692 profile. Bath Shipyard asked BuShips to update the design on 8/8/44. On 11/3/44 BuShips sent Design 33a/28D using the DD-710 profile.
DD-805 was sent drawing 32/3D for the DD-692 class on 8/8/44, later on 12/15/44 was sent drawing 33a/28D for the DD-710 class.
