Notation

Indicates the date that the Bureau of Ships sent to the ship or shipyard drawings and instructions to paint that camouflage design. That directive was usually followed and camouflage completion photos were returned to the Bureau. For the rows that are marked red, no verification memos or photos have yet been found.
Indicates the earliest date that memos or photos confirm painting in that design.
Not applicable.
Indicates DE converted to High-speed Transport (APD) after commissioning. Some DE's under construction were completed and commissioned as APD's and are not listed here.

Footnotes

A July 11, 1944 speedletter #01996 from Commander in Chief Atlantic Fleet (CinCLant) requested BuShips to paint all destroyer escorts under construction and assigned to Atlantic Fleet in camouflage 32/3D.
Assigned to Design in Commander Service Force Pacific Fleet (ComServPac) 10/11/43 letter #0937 to BuShips.
Reassigned to a new Design by the BuShips 6/10/44 memo to ComServPac that listed ships that had been reassigned from the 10/11/43 letter #0937.
DE-679 was assigned camouflage 32/24D by ComServPac 10/11/43 letter #0937, but was sent camouflage 32/6D on 8/1/44.
DE-680 was sent two-color Design 31/24D on 1/28/44 and later on 3/16/44 three-color Design 31/24D.
DE-699 was sent Design 32/3D on 12/2/43, reported painting 1/19/44 and subsequently assigned to Atlantic Fleet. Photos show DE-699 in Measure 22 in May 1944.
DE-700 was sent drawing on 3/17/44 with memo that identified the drawing as 31/6D (sic), which must have been a typo since DE-700 was photographed in 31/14D on 3/26/44 in Boston. A memo with those photos from Boston referenced the 3/17/44 BuShips memo.
