The drawing for Design 32/6AO for the Tolland
class attack cargo ships using the (C2-S-AJ3) maritime hull dated July 3, 1944. This drawing specifies four vertical colors: light gray (5-L), ocean gray (5-O), navy blue (5-N) and dull black (BK) with the horizontal color of deck blue (20-B). The boats were all specified to be a sixth color of haze gray (5-H). This drawing has one waterline, the load waterline so most ships painted camouflage below that line.
The earliest drawing for Design 6AO was for the Merrimac class fleet oilers on February 29, 1944. Design 6AO was redrawn on May 10, 1944, for the Alamosa class cargo ships and later on July 3, 1944, for the Tolland class of attack cargo ships.
